Q: What is Non Surgical Breast Shaping, Non Surgical Breast Enhancement?

A: Macrolane Breast Shaping is a Non Surgical treatment using Macrolane to restore fuller breasts, reshape or correct asymmetry of a women’s breast using a local anaesthetic, minimally invasive technique. Q: What size increase can I obtain with Macrolane Cosmetic Breast Enhancement, Non Surgical Breast Shaping?

A: Depending on your present Bra size the maximum increase possible with Macrolane Breast Shaping is 1 ½ Cup size. Women with small chest size e.g. 30 or 32 may be able to achieve a 2 cup size increase following Macrolane Breast Shaping treatment.

Q: Am I suitable for Macrolane Cosmetic Breast Shaping, Non Surgical Breast Enhancement?

A: If you would like to improve your breast shape/size while avoiding surgery, have healthy breasts, with no significant drooping (ptosis) or skin laxity, then Macrolane Breast Enhancement may be a good option for you. A detailed assessment can only be carried out at the time of a thorough Consultation.

Q: How is Macrolane Non Surgical Cosmetic Breast Enhancement performed?

A: Initial consultation will determine the goals of treatment and make note of any associated abnormalities or asymmetry and plan the optimum treatment to achieve the ideal result in each patient. Treatment is carried out in the out-patient setting and takes 30 – 40 minutes. A local anaesthetic injection is used to ensure that the treatment is as comfortable as possible. A small incision (2-3mm) is made in the crease below the breast and the Macrolane is injected behind the breast tissue (subglandular plane). Approximately 50 -150cc can be injected into each side to reshape the breast to the desired result. A short course of antibiotics will be prescribed.


Q: Will the Non Surgical Breast Shaping treatment be painful / cause bruising?

A: Minimal discomfort is expected during the treatment and no bruising should occur with the careful techniques used. Any mild bruising will usually resolve after 1 week. Your breasts may feel tender – moderate discomfort for the first 3 – 5 days. Mild discomfort is expected for 2 weeks.

Q: When will results be seen following Non Surgical Breast Shaping with Macrolane?

Improvement in breast shape will be seen immediately following  Macrolane Breast Shaping treatment. Any swelling will resolve in 2 weeks, but return to normal feeling from 4 – 6 weeks.

Q: How long will the result of Macrolane Non Surgical Breast Shaping last?

A: Macrolane releases hyaluronic acid gradually over a period of time, therefore the improvement in the breast shape is expected to last from 12 – 18 months. However, repeat treatments are recommended every 9 - 12 months to maintain the breast shape as desired. Very uncommonly early breakdown of Macrolane can occur within 6 months.

Q: What are the side effects or risks of Macrolane Non Surgical Breast Shaping, Breast Enhancement?

A: Moderate discomfort, swelling and bruising can occur. Some scarring around the Macrolane can occur producing a capsule. If the capsule becomes firm giving the feeling of a lump, further treatment may be recommended to alleviate this. Infection is rare (<0.1%) following Macrolane Breast Shaping, a course of antibiotics will be given at the time of your treatment. Migration of product is uncommon and is simply treated under local anaesthetic, either removing the product or by the use of Hyalase to dissolve the migrated product. Reactions following Macrolane are rare. Very uncommonly early breakdown of Macrolane can occur within 6 months of the treatment requiring a retreatment.

Q: When will I be able to return to normal activities?

A: Restricted activities are advised for 2 weeks following treatment with Macrolane Breast Enhancement. Wearing a support sports bra is recommended for the first week day and night, then during the day for a further 1 week. We advise that you wear a support bra during any physical activity following your Macrolane Breast Treatment.
