Non-Surgical Eyelid Lift - Eyebag Correction
Dark circles, tired eyes, tear trough are often associated with eyebags and aging changes in the eyelids, but commonly present as specific concerns. Blepharoplasty / eyelid surgery is not indicated for dark circles which can be effectively improved by fillers such as Restylane, Laresse or Evolence Breeze. Overactive muscles around the crow's feet and frown lines can be relaxed using Botulinum toxin injections to soften the lines and lift the eyebrows with this non-surgical eyebrow lifting. Overactive muscles around the eyes especially Crow’s feet and frown lines can be relaxed and the eyebrows lifted non-surgically using Botulinum toxin injections.
What is the non-surgical eyelid lift?
The appearance of dark circles occurs due to loss of fat overlying the bony orbital margin either due to genetic changes or gravity and aging. This produces the so called tear trough deformity causing shadows especially with over head lighting. Occasionally, dark circles are caused by pigmentation in this area and will require skin care treatments to improve this. Eyebrow drooping can be lifted and lines around the eyes - crow's feet can be softened using Botulinum toxin injections.
How is the non-surgical eyelid lift treatment performed?
Initial consultation will determine the goals of treatment, make note of any associated abnormalities or asymmetries and plan the optimum treatment to achieve the ideal result in each patient. Treatment is carried out in the out-patient setting and takes 15 – 20 minutes. The filler is injected into the tear trough to smoothen the area. The options for type of filler include; Restylane, Laresse and Evolence. Botulinum toxin is injected using very fine needles to the desired areas.
Will the non-surgical eyelid lift treatment be painful / cause bruising?
Minimal discomfort is expected during the treatment and no bruising should occur with the careful techniques used. Cooling of the skin before and after treatment help reduce discomfort and swelling.
When will results be seen after non-surgical eyelid lift?
Improvement in the tear trough is seen immediately following treatment. However, some swelling or bruising may take 3 -5 days to resolve. With Botulinum toxin injections, relaxation of the muscles around the eyes begins at 5 days and reaches a peak at 14 days.
How long will the result of non-surgical eyelid lift last?
Stable improvement will last for approximately 6 to 9 months with Restylane or Laresse, while Evolence Breeze results last from 12 – 18 months. Relaxation of the active facial lines with botulinum toxin will last from 3 - 4 months.
What are the side effects or risks of non-surgical eyelid lift?
Mild discomfort, swelling and bruising can occur. Lumps or asymmetry can appear which may require further treatment.
