Your Questions

Q: What is Brazilian Buttock Lift with Fat Grafting, Autologous Fat Transfer AFT?
A: Brazilian Buttock Lift with Fat Grafting or Lipofilling is an operation to restore or reshape the buttocks to provide a fuller, firmer uplifted, buttocks or correct deformities and asymmetry, by grafting of your own fat(autologous) into the buttocks. Fat is harvested from areas where excess fat is of concern, commonly the love handles, abdomen and thighs, but can also be the arms, back rolls, knees. The fat is carefully treated using a sterile Aquavage device, to protect the fat cells before being injected into the buttocks through one or two very small incisions using a thin cannula. The procedure should be fairly atraumatic, reducing the incidence of complications and maximising the healing of the fat cells.

Q: What is the benefit of Fat Grafting, Fat Transfer?
A: Fat Grafting uses your own fat cells (autologous fat) to enhance and lift your buttocks. Since the fat cells are your own, there is no risk of rejection or adverse reactions. The fat grafted buttocks will feel and behave naturally and there is no risk of implant failure or damage as with Buttock Augmentation with an Implant. Although, 1 or 2 treatments with Fat Grafting may be required to achieve the optimum shape or fullness, the results of Autologous Fat Transfer AFT are permanent.

Q: What are the side effects or risks?
A: Mild discomfort, swelling and bruising can occur. Some irregularity may occur at the site of fat harvest requiring additional treatment(s), such as Velashape or additional fat sculpting. Infection is rare (<0.1%) following Fat Tansfer AFT for Brazilian Buttock Lift, a course of antibiotics will be given at the time of your treatment. Deep Vein Thrombosis is very uncommon but we take all precautions during and after your surgery to minimize this risk.

Q: How is the Brazilian Buttock Lift performed?
A: Initial consultation will determine the goals of treatment and make note of any associated abnormalities or asymmetry and plan the optimum treatment to achieve the ideal result in each patient. Treatment is carried out under general anaesthetic as a day case. Autologous Fat is harvested by liposuction technique before preparation and transfer to your buttocks.
