What to Expect on the day of Buccal Fat Removal?
On the day of your Buccal Fat Removal, Mr. Inglefield will administer some local anesthesia to your face. Although you will be awake during the procedure, the anesthesia will diminish any pain you might feel. An incision will be made inside your cheek, then the pressure will be applied to the outside of your cheek to further expose the buccal fat pad. Mr. Inglefield will then cut and remove the excess fat, then finish the surgery by closing the wound with dissolvable stitches. Before you leave, you will be given a special mouthwash to prevent any infections, as well as additional information on how to care for the incision.
Buccal Fat Removal Recovery
During the initial stage of your recovery, you will need to maintain a liquid diet for the first several days, after which you will be able to progress to soft foods before returning to your normal diet.
You will experience some mild bruising and swelling in your face, but this will subside over time. On average, our patients see a full recovery after about three weeks.
