When Lydia Carranza decided a breast enlargement would boost her confidence little did she realise it would also save her life after she was targeted by a gunman.

A crazed gunman shot at Lydia while she was at work. “As the gun flashed I was convinced that was it. All I could think about was my kids,” she told The Mirror newspaper. “I’d never see them again.”

The shot pierced Lydia’s arm and right breast. “The pain was immense and I fell to the ground, certain it was my last moment.”

She learned later how close she had come to dying and that it was her implants that had saved her life. The silicone took the force of the impact and prevented bullet fragments from reaching her vital organs.
