Our vein specialist, Dr Florian Netzer attended the World Meeting of the International Union of Phlebology in Boston, where some of the worlds’ leading vein treatment experts gathered to learn about new techniques and explore further the world of treating veins.

Dr Florian Netzer at the UIP Conference

Dr Netzer gave a talk to demonstrate the use of steam as a complimentary technique to be used in combination with radiofrequency ablation. If steam is not used, tributary veins are treated with mini-phlebectomy which causes scars and possible nerve and lymph vessel damage, or by sclerotherapy which can cause long lasting hyper-pigmentation and induction of phlebitis. Steam allows treatment of all visible and invisible damaged veins in one single session without the associated risks. Dr Netzer reported the use of steam treatment in around 1.500 cases that he had treated.
