Steam Vein Sclerosis

Hot steam therapy “SVS” – “steam vein sclerosis”

Florian Netzer discusses SVS with a patient

A very new and very gentle procedure for treatment of varicose veins developed in France. It involves the destruction of afflicted veins through the introduction of small amounts of very hot steam into the veins by way of a catheter.

Similarly as for the radiofrequency therapy (VNUS-Closure® or RFITT® or CELON®), the walls of the veins are destroyed through the heat, while the surroundings are not damaged and the body then automatically breaks these veins down by way of the phagocytes.

  • No scars and no haemorrhaging on the leg undergoing treatment
  • Patients are immediately able to work and to participate in sports.
  • No compression necessary

We use the “SVS” method primarily as asupplementary method employed together with the radiofrequency catheterprocedure (VNUS-Closure®) or with endoscopy and the spider vein laser, and with the microfoam therapy.
