Browpexy Surgery will correct drooping of eyebrows and mild laxity of skin in the upper eyelid. Botulinum toxin injections are highly recommended 2 weeks prior to surgery to relax the muscles affected by the surgery for a more effective healing. Dermal filler or Fat injections may also be recommended to achieve the best results. Any existing facial asymmetry will be pointed out.

  • What is a Browpexy, Endotine Transbleph Surgery?
    Browpexy, Endotine Transbleph Surgery is an operation to correct mild to moderate drooping of the eyebrows and improvement of mild skin laxity of the upper eyelid to achieve a natural youthful appearance. The operation is performed through the natural upper eyelid skin crease and commonly combined with an upper Blepharoplasty, Eyelid surgery. The Endotine Transbleph device is secured to the forehead above the eyebrow to stabilize the eyebrow. This corrects the drooping eyebrow and lifts the upper eyelid skin.
  • What are the benefits of a Browpexy?
    Since the introduction of Botulinum toxin injections to rebalance the muscles of the upper face, many patients are able to achieve good rejuvenation of the upper face and eyebrows without surgery. A Browpexy is beneficial to elevate the drooping eyebrows to give a natural youthful fresh appearance.
  • What are the risks of Browpexy Surgery?
    Common to all surgical procedures there are always risks associated with surgery. However, complications are uncommon. The most frequent is bruising following surgery and may take 2 weeks to resolve, while major bleeding is rare. Infection is infrequent (less than 0.5%) and will require a course of appropriate antibiotics. Hypertropic or keloid scarring is also rare but will require specific treatments to reduce the scarring. Reduced sensation over the forehead may occur is expected to return to normal within 3 – 6 months.

  • Does a Browpexy, Endotine Transbleph Surgery require a general anaesthetic or hospitalisation?
    A Browpexy can be performed under local anaesthetic as an out-patient procedure or under General anaesthetic as a daycase especially when combined with other facial surgery.
  • How long is the procedure?
    The procedure normally takes less than 30 – 45 minutes to perform.
  • How long is the recovery time?
    Mild pain / discomfort is expected for 3 – 5 days. Patients can go back to their normal daily activities after 1 week, but avoid strenuous exercise / activity for 6 weeks including any contact sports.
  • Am I the ideal patient for a Browpexy?
    The ideal patient for a Browpexy has drooping of the eyebrows which is not corrected by effective Botulinum toxin injection treatment or want a permanent solution to the drooping eyebrows.
  • What about the results?
    The results are first and foremost natural. The goals of Browpexy surgery are to restore an aesthetically pleasing upper face which is in balance with your facial features – i.e. looks natural and does not appear abnormal. Remember that it can take up to 3 – 6 months before the full healing and final appearance is achieved.
  • How long do the results last?
    The results of Browpexy, Endotine Transbleph Surgery typically will last from 5 years or more depending on your individual anatomy and aging.
  • Is there an alternative to Browpexy, Endotine Transbleph Surgery?
    For selected patients, Silhouette BrowLift in combination with botulinum toxin treatment can achieve the desired goals. Injectable products, dermal fillers such as Belotero or Radiesse can be beneficial in restoring volume in the aging forehead and eyebrows providing moderate Brow Lifting and rejuvenation.
