Menopause London

Menopause is defined as the absence of menstruation for 12 months. The function of the ovaries ceases at this time in a woman’s life. It is a gradual process and the average age of onset is 51 years but this can vary widely. The menopause brings about a lot of changes to a woman’s body, some of which can impact greatly on the physical and mental health of the woman. Alterations in hormones can lead to a variety of symptoms which can include abnormal vaginal bleeding, hot flushes, vaginal and urinary symptoms and mood swings.

Vagina

Changes in hormones can cause dryness of the vagina which can lead to discomfort, uncomfortable intercourse and recurrent infections. It can also lead to stress incontinence. Unlike other symptoms of menopause that stop after a few years, vaginal symptoms can continue and never go away without treatment. The FemiLift harnesses laser technology to tighten the muscles and elastic fibres within the vaginal wall, resulting in increased vaginal tone. This has a positive impact on recurrent infections by helping to restore the micro-flora within the vagina and also reduces stress incontinence. The FemiLift is a pain free, safe, and effective treatment. We are very aware of the personal nature of such a procedure and therefore please be assured that patient dignity, comfort and safety is at the forefront of all our treatments.

Weight Changes

Weight gain and the loss of ability to lose weight may be another distressing symptom associated with the menopause. At LBPS we have a range of options to help regain your youthful shape. Our holistic approach involving experts in nutrition, hormonal balance and Non-invasive procedures such as Velashape can reduce pockets of fat and provide body contouring to smooth problem areas, and maintain a satisfying body shape.

Skin

Skin changes during and after the menopause due to the hormonal changes happening in your body. Skin generally becomes drier and thinner with symptoms such as adult acne sometimes developing. Ageing can also be accelerated. Our LBPS Skin Health team, working alongside our experts in nutrition and hormone balance, can help to assess changes in the skin and offer a personalised treatment programme, which may include the use of Retinols and Collagen building treatments, to aid with improving and helping the skin to be as healthy as possible. Skin laxity can also be addressed using Endymed 3DEEP and Laser 360 to lift and rejuvenate your skin.
